Forries Organic Herb Garden

Forries' Organic Herb Garden

When Mrs Lorraine Epstein took over Foresters Arms in 1992, it was always her dream to create an organic herb garden. In 2020, that dream became a reality, and the Forries herb garden was born.

The herb garden at Forester’s Arms has been Mrs Epstein’s labour of love. She has worked tirelessly to create a sustainable and self-sufficient space, using only natural methods and materials. The garden is now home to a wide variety of herbs, plants and flowers, all of which are used in the Forries kitchen.

Our organic herb garden is a beautiful example of sustainability in action. Mrs Epstein, along with her fantastic gardeners, has created a space that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also productive and eco-friendly.

We are proud to be able to offer our customers dishes made with fresh, organic herbs that have been grown with love and care.

Best local pub in the Southern Suburbs. Attentive staff, child friendly, cold beers 🍻 and food is always good.

We grow the following in our organic herb garden:

What is companion planting?

Companion planting is a gardening technique that involves growing different types of plants near each other. The practice dates back thousands of years, and it is still used by gardeners today.

There are many benefits to companion planting. For example, certain plants can help to repel pests, while others can improve the flavour of vegetables. Companion planting can also help to increase the yield of a garden.

By carefully selecting which plants to grow together, our gardeners can make the most efficient use of space and sunlight. In addition, companion planting can promote biodiversity, which is beneficial for both the plants and the surrounding ecosystem.

How does Forries' organic herb garden help to reduce waste?

Forries is committed to being environmentally friendly and promoting sustainability. We use trimmings generated during kitchen prep to create rich compost for the Forries Herb Garden.

By growing our own organic produce, Forries is reducing the use of packaging and single-use plastics. This allows us to provide delicious, healthy food while doing our part to reduce waste and protect the environment.

The Forries Herb Garden is a beautiful and tranquil oasis that provides our restaurant with the freshest and most flavourful herbs possible.
